Departments
oikos Lisbon is organized into five dynamic departments, each driving unique projects that empower our members to make a difference. Through these departments, our members get involved and actively contribute to meaningful change and help the club achieve its mission. Explore each department to learn more about their initiatives and how they’re shaping a sustainable future:
Consulting
Performs internal and external consulting projects:
Internal consultancy for the sustainability office of Nova SBE, with the aim of making our university campus more sustainable;
External consultancy for external entities, aims to accelerate growth and secure profitability of sustainability focused companies and push sustainability topics within companies without a sustainable business model.
The consulting department also hosts workshops with partner sustainability companies for members to learn hard skills.
Environmental Education
The Environmental Education department aims at educating the Nova SBE community and other interested individuals about sustainability-related topics.
In oikos Articles we write and publish articles about environmental issues of current interest.
In oikos Tips & Quizzes we rely on our Instagram page where we post tips and stories with pop quizzes about sustainability. We also try to make our school community increasingly aware of sustainability problems with the help of the sustainability office at Nova – I’m sure you already noticed our stickers in the restrooms!
In the Nova SBE Community Garden team, we aim to promote the activities of the university’s community garden along with Nova SBE’s DESIS Lab. oikos members participate and create content to promote it on campus. This is a new project that started in 2024.
Finally, in oikos Podcast, we record monthly podcast episodes to employees of diverse companies that are sustainable or in the path to become so and to achieve a more sustainable working environment. The goal is to better understand how they balance having a sustainable business and still making profit. We also interview professionals, oikos alumni, and relevant people in the sustainability sector.
Events
Focuses on organising events for the community and team-building activities inside the club.
We have some flagship events. In the Spring semester, we host Green Talks and in the Fall semester we organize a Christmas market and Cloth Swap. In both semesters, we organize the oiktionary and beach cleanups with Movimento Claro.
Marketing
The Marketing department is dedicated to increasing oikos Lisbon’s visibility among the Nova SBE community.
Our work includes promoting the club’s events, as well as projects and partnerships developed by the other departments.
We also invest in content creation in order to foster oikos’ mission and keep our community engaged. The department is currently partnering with the Sustainability Office at Nova.
Corporate Relations
This department builds partnerships with external parties.
It manages partnerships with several companies/organizations to get the prizes for oiktionary, giveaways, and other events held throughout the semester.
The CR department main job is to create new partnerships, but also strengthen some long-term partnerships with companies for external and internal workshops, consulting projects, as well as other bigger events, such as Green Talks.
